Terms to Remember

Short Rate - Pay 40% of the full premium since you were insured from the time the wheat was sown until March 15 or April 1 depending on your county.

Termination Date - If Spring Crop premium is unpaid by March 15 then the insured will not be eligible for coverage the next year.

bullet

Continuous Policy - A policy remains active until canceled in writing by the insured.  The policy will remain at the same level each year unless coverage level is changed on a new application by Sales Closing Date.

Catastrophic (CAT) - Provides the minimum coverage amount on a MPCI policy.  For a $300 fee, producers can buy a minimum insurance coverage based on 50% of the producing operation's average yield at 55% of the FCIC established prices.

Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) - provides protection against losses from a number of uncontrollable causes.

Revenue Protection (RP) - Available for selected states and crops, this policy provides protection against revenue losses resulting from any combination of low market prices or low production yields.  RP is available in certain states.  Ask your agent about availability in your area.
